MiG-27 goes into history,
the Legacy of Indian Air Force's
Bahadur Valiant.
Indian Airforce has retired MIG –
27 on 27 December 2019. It played a commendable role in Kargil war, It is just
like truly end of an era.
The MIG – 27
Commissioned into the Indian Air Force in 1985, the MiG-27 remained an integral
part of the Indian Air Force's combat strength. It was due to the jet's heroics
during the Kargil war that the aircraft earned the nickname "BAHADUR".
MIG got this nickname ''BAHADUR'' from Air force pilots
during KARGIL WAR. MiG - 27 was commissioned into the Indian Air Force in 1985,
On 27 December 2019, Friday morning when the last squadron of the MiG - 27 took
off for its last sortie and soared into the skies of Jodhpur (Rajasthan).It
was just like an era of a Bahadur soldier came to an end.
After this last flight all seven planes of this squadron
Scorpion 29 will be decommissioned, from this none of them will fly anywhere in
the country’s sky. Before his retirement MIG received water salutes at Air
Force Station Jodhpur. "The MiG - 27 fleet earned its glory in the historic
Kargil conflict when it delivered rockets and bombs with accuracy on enemy
positions"

of MiG - 27
The MiG - 27 was developed by the Soviet Union and later
indigenously manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in India. The MiG -
27 was a single-engine, single-seater tactical strike fighter aircraft.

· Carries
one 23mm six-barrel rotary integral cannon.
· Can
carry up to 4000kg of other armaments externally.
Indian Airforce bids farewell to the mighty MiG - 27. The
aircraft was decommissioned in a grand ceremony to be held at air force station
Jodhpur.
The Formidable ground attack fighter aircraft has served the
nation for over three decades. MiG - 27 has been the mainstay of IAF's ground
attack capability. It has participated in all major IAF operations and earned
several nicknames.
